Other forms: promised lands
You can use the phrase promised land to talk about any perfect place, whether it's your grandparents' idyllic lake house or the land beyond the rainbow Dorothy imagines in "The Wizard of Oz."
If you hope to one day be a famous stage actor, Broadway may be your promised land, or the place where you imagine all your dreams will come true. A beach that makes you blissfully happy, or a future world you dream of — both of these are your promised lands. The origin of promised land is decidedly Biblical: in the Old Testament, Abraham and his descendants are promised the land of Canaan.
